The Radar Magazine

Celebrating Birmingham's Cultural Scene

About

The Radar magazine was launched in July 2010 and quickly established itself as Birmingham’s premier arts, culture and lifestyle publication.

Our strap line reads: ‘Celebrating Birmingham’s Cultural Scene’ and we achieve this in the following ways.

  • By giving exposure to the diverse range of creative talent the city and surrounding areas have to offer through in-depth interviews and illustrations of their work.
  • By providing extensive coverage of cultural festivals, organisations and events.
  • By promoting small, independent businesses in the city to a wider audience.
  • By exploring Birmingham’s cultural heritage and legacy.
  • By highlighting events taking place via our ‘Good Stuff’ listings section.

Central to our very existence is the desire to challenge outdated stereotypes of the city. We want to showcase Birmingham as a vibrant and dynamic place with a thriving independent scene that embraces the incredible range of cultural activities happening every day across Birmingham. The response from readers and cultural institutions to the magazine since our launch has been overwhelmingly positive. There is a sense that Birmingham finally has a publication which reflects what’s really going on in an intelligent and accessible way.

If you know of any events or artists you think we should be covering please get in touch.
